|
Tom Kenney
Tom was reared in Norfolk at our parent church, Tabernacle Church of Norfolk. His undergraduate years at Virginia Tech (Business Mgt '75) were the years God made Himself real to Tom. His heart for ministry was shaped by Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship
, a ministry he joined upon graduation (and marriage to Mabel). They served IVCF in a pioneering staff position at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, for three years. During that time the Kenneys developed a heart for family ministry through their church involvement. So in 1978 they moved to Philadelphia and Tom earned a Masters of Divinity at Westminster Theological Seminary ('82). In 1983 Tabernacle Church asked Tom to lead their church plant effort on the Peninsula, the Chapel. He and Mabel have reared their four children here. Basketball and tennis are his interests. Tom serves on the Metro Board of the YMCA and is
excited about the possibilities for ministry the Y's Mission Statement
and local leadership afford.

Frank Satchell
Frank is a native of Hampton where
he met and married Elizabeth over 40 years ago. They have two children and
ten grandchildren – a clan in which the gospel is taking a firm hold. God’s
mission was carried out by Frank as a 44-year employee of the Shipyard. Many of us have met Apprentice School students who learned math from “Mr. Satchell”, a role he filled for 34
years. When he retired in 2006, he
began teaching Algebra at Summit Christian Academy. Since coming to us in 1990,
Frank and Elizabeth have over 10 years of experience in our Ridley inner-city
tutoring ministry as well as serving at Nehemiah’s Nook feeding the homeless. Leading and hosting Home Groups have been a
big part of the Satchells’ service to the Chapel since they came. Among the spiritual gifts Frank brings
to the Board are mercy, teaching and administration. Frank has a passion for men's discipleship both one-on-one and in larger groups and has been involved in prison ministry.
